Roos have nictating membranes? I didn't know that... It looks marvelous and very efficiently done.

They don't. ;) I think in this picture it's just a reflection of the off-frame horizon. It's not quite lid-shaped, judging from the tearshaped color on the left, so I don't think he meant it to be a nictating membrane. In any case, I think it's not even meant to be a real kangaroo eye, because kangaroos have horizontally aligned pupils. I told him Rooth's 80% roo and 20% bunny, so he could draw the eye more rooish or more rabbitish if he wanted. I'd say what he drew is pretty close to these rabbit eyes.
