I like Beastars but I kinda checked out during the whole Melon saga. It just went on FOREVER to me and I found the ending to the series a bit underwhelming. TBH, I didn't know what to expect so that could be why. None of that is a criticism against the series in any way though.

This piece is great though!

I feel similarly about the ending. I know making manga an exhausting process due to tight turnarounds and overwork as demanded by the industry. Something is amiss in the later arcs - perhaps Paru is a panst-er (I mean, me too) and wasn't sure how to end it. Or perhaps she was just growing tired by the Melon arc... who knows!

I still enjoy the series on the whole. It's always read as a kind of "what if?" stream of consciousness to me. The author flits from arc to arc like she is just completely enamoured with exploring an idea about the world she's crafted - even if it doesn't always dovetail with the previous one. It's charming.

...And I'm just rambling now, but thank you! I liked drawing this piece, it was nice to visit these characters again.
