🌸 Where the Lilacs Linger 🌸
When I was little, my parents had a house with a garden.
From the window, you could see a huge lilac bush in full bloom. There were other smaller bushes around the house, too, but that one - that big, violet lilac - is what I remember most vividly from those days…
Now, every Spring, I wait for the lilacs to bloom again. I bring a few branches home, hoping to carry a bit of that scent, a bit of nature, into my apartment in a grey block of flats in Łódź.
I never really used to celebrate my birthday - after you turn 26, somehow the birthdays that follow lose their magic. But…
But.
I’ve come a long way from the little Ana who ran away from her parents: broken, closed off, and so deeply afraid.
Now, I’ve become the person I once needed. The “mom friend”. Someone who takes care of others, but also knows how to fight for the things that matter.
The scent of lilacs still takes me back.
But now, it carries me forward, too. 💜

Your story is beautiful. The world needs mom friends, not leaders.
I just snuck out to the park early this morning and cut some lilac bunches to put on the table for my partner's birthday. We also harvest them this time of year and make lilac cordial - you can use any recipe for elderflowers, and it tastes just as good but is a much more delightful colour.

Our neighbor used to have all these huge beautiful lilac bushes all along our fence, but at some point decided to have them all cut down for whatever reason. We planted our own not too long after, the growing process has been slow but they look so good now and are always a highlight of my spring. The smell alone is so worth all the effort 💜
