When Selene was born she was cursed with the ability to turn who ever or what ever she touched would inflate like a balloon, for most of her life this power was a curse to her a dangerous curse that made anyone and everyone even her family avoid and ostracize her and those who didn't quickly learned to when they inflated and floated/bounced away. After years of suffering like this she left her home on a pilgrimage to join the mage guild where her power was viewed not as a curse but instead a useful weapon and she was made a Jr member and given a mechanical claw that would allow her to concentrate and better control her inflation powers.
While serving the guild she was sent out on expedition along with her superior guild officer at the time Kackle to investigate a mysterious village which the two would soon discover was a balloon kitsune village, for the few days they were there Selene fell in love with the village and its locals who viewed her curse as neither a curse or a weapon to utilize but a blessing, for the first time in her life she felt truly welcome and happy and after donning the village's training robes she intended to officially leave the guild and join the village.
unfortunately while there Kackle had caused an incident in the village destroying a large portion of it after getting into a fight with its matriarch and was subsequently banished from the village and do to her connection with kackle though slim Selene was banished from the village and any hopes of finding a place she truly belonged her destroyed. She soon left the guild and vowed revenge on Kackle for ruining her life and returned to her former home kingdom where with her powers she promptly and angrily took over.
