Being human was something that Carl strived for.
Everyday he got up, kissed his brother and their midnight lycanroc packmate on the nose, chuckling as they whimpered and then snorted at his loving antics, before going down the hill to wash up within the wash room in the back of Max and Keith's home, left open for them by the pair until they could get their own bathroom built.
Looking himself in the mirror, the raven haired nurse reminded himself that he was a human, and that it was okay to want to be as such, even though his sharp nose caught the scent of male musk wafting about the walls of the bathing area from where Keith and Max had 'bonded' with another. He was a human, and as such, he could ignore such things, even if walking out into the hallway towards the kitchen to get breakfast revealed more scents that told him of several eeveelutions who had been rutting just as well, the lot of them sometimes being so unabashed as to walk around with pride with tailholes that were leaking the evidence of their more dominant mate's furious claim over them.
Yes.
He could just ignore this as he went to fix himself and his pack breakfast.
Wanting to tear the meat packs that he had purchased and devour the bloody flesh whole right then and there was just a side effect of his lycanthropy, and easily controlled simply by telling his shadowy instincts 'no'. Because he was human in the end, and being human meant that he was in control over his more animalistic wants that all humans had, being animals themselves, and thus didn't need to concern himself with anything more than keeping the drool trying to slide from his lips off of his chin.
Thankfully it never took long to cook what the pack needed to eat for the morning and then clean up the dishes, because he was not going to let either Keith or Max think that he was ungrateful for their generosity by being a pig.
Once done, and having left a few treats for Max's flareon and eevee who always got up to watch him from the doorway, Carl returned to his packmates, finding them slowly rousing themselves to wakefulness upon not finding him in his usual place, he normally got back before they started to growl at one another, but sometimes one of Keith's eeveelutions would want to play, and he couldn't say no to them, they were just so darned cute! With Larc and Rip-Raff awake, if somewhat groggily, the three of them would eat their shared meal and then nuzzle one another, which was something that humans did and wasn't strange in the least, before they would talk about their plans for today.
If it was the weekday, then Larc would grumble about work before getting up to do his morning stretch routine, with Rip-Raff to follow, before Carl got ready for work at the pokemon center, however if it were the weekend, his alpha...brother would grab him and then cuddle him close into his chest before licking at his neck and chin. Rip-Raff, being the jealous lupine that he was, would get in on the action, though he would do so by nipping at his chest and nipples, making the black buds rise and then harden before lowering his head into Carl's lap. The demand to be pet was one that the smaller man could never deny, because humans had hand to pet other creatures with, even if Larc growled and grumbled about him doing as such. Following this, their weekend pursuits would continue on with them either going into the city to pick up what supplies they needed, both to eat and to fix up their home with, or the three of them walking into the back of the more forested area of the Keith's home. Larc would usually shift himself into his more bestial form while Carl would remain human, because he was as such, no matter how much his teeth ached to elongate and his limbs twitched with the need to expand his form until he stood as a furry mirror to his older twin.
He was human.
He would remain as such because he had to be.
He was the more levelheaded of the pack after all, which meant that he could just run around and wrestle in the dirt like Larc and Rip-Raff - thankfully it would be a playful tussle instead of a bloody fight, given that the moon was in its waning phase, and thus their tempers were quite mild.
He just had to silently shake his head at the pair before laughing as they scampered off into the shadows of the woods, more than likely to chase something that only they could hear, or to bring back a tasty morsel that only they could smell, there were more than a few berry bushes scattered about the land, of which stretched out for at least several miles before reaching the canyons where Rip-Raff had stumbled upon a pack of houndoom just looking for a fight, so there was always something for the others to bring back for the three of them to snack on before they returned home for the day. Carl, like the human he was, would cook whatever his alp...brother and Rip-Raff would bring to him if it once had a pulse, because despite his tongue rolling out of his mouth with the need to taste the flesh of the beast which had been brought back for them, he would not do so. First he would clean and then remove what entrails were inside, if Larc didn't stop Rip-Raff from doing so in his own lupine manner than saw his already red face darken even further with a bloody crimson hue, and then he would set a fire together with some flints he would gather...if the midnight lycanroc didn't spark one by running a claw across his black mane.
Once the meal was eaten, with Larc taking the larger of the share, as was his right as the leader of the pack, everyone would then settle down together for a quick nap before returning home, whatever wasn't eaten, which usually wasn't much, would be stored away in the backpack that Carl had purchase, seeing as humans carried those around with them, and he was a human who of course needed such things.
Night would find the trio washing up together within the washroom, usually with Larc pulling Carl in close next to him as he growled and then bite at his younger twin's neck before grinding his crotch into his shivering rump - Carl would normally be helpless to stop himself as his older brother did as such, as he was a man with needs, needs that had gone unmet, though only because the third member of their pack would not stand for being left out. Rip-Raff, despite being no fan of rushing water, would muscle his way into the surprisingly large shower, and then growl and snarl before butting his head into Carl's chest. This would make him laugh and then stroke the jealous lupine across the face, much to Larc's growing annoyance, before he would say enough and make the two of them clean up so that they could go to bed. Because the weekend was always short, and soon enough work would demand that he and his brother go out to earn the poke dollars, Rip-Raff would usually see to his own devices, which sometimes led to him standing guard outside of Keith's pokemon gym, the midnight lycanroc challenging all those who sought entry for the gym leader's badge to prove their worth, much to the eeveelution trainer's bemusement, and Max's elation, the later usually preferring not to do as such on principle, seeing as despite being a pokemorph, he was just as human as Carl was.

"I don't think this one is going to make it." Nurse Joy spoke quietly as she looked over the piplup that was currently on several different machines within the back area of the pokemon center. "The extensive internal damage that she's received is going to take months to recover from, and that's if we can get the swelling to go down." The pink haired woman shook her head mournfully as she looked over the smaller blue pokemon fighting for continued existence.
"I can't believe that this little one was able to protect her trainer like that despite taking such a beating." Carl said while sorrowfully looking down at the slumbering water type pokemon.
When the young trainer had been brought in, his body covered with scars and tears streaming down his face, both Carl and Nurse Joy had looked to each other with the same thought in mind.
The second after the boy had told them what had happened between him and his father, and how the other had been abused him to the point that his piplup had actually gotten in between the two of them Carl had immediately gotten on the horn to call up Officer Jenny. Nurse Joy on the other hand worked to calm the young trainer down with a deep hug and some soothing words of comfort while her chansey went to make some soothing tea. It took ten minutes for Officer Jenny to get to the pokemon center, thankfully it had been a slow night tonight, but by that time Nurse Joy had taken the piplup into the back area to begin treating the unconscious water type.
Carl, in turn, spent nearly an hour with the trainer and Officer Jenny working over exactly what had led to all of this happening. By the time the police woman was able to work out a coherent statement she radioed in to the Torec Police Department of the situation and then quietly took the young boy from off of Carl's hands.
Once he was sure that the other would be okay, Carl immediately went to go and help Nurse Joy.
It took the two of them forty minutes to clean, disinfect, and then get the piplup on a breathing normally, the smaller pokemon having stopped breathing once or twice as there was a lot of fluid in his lungs trying to fill up the organs in question, but once they did the pair breathed a sigh of relief that the water type pokemon was at least stable.
"Pokemon are more loyal than humans." Nurse Joy said offhandedly making Carl wonder if she was speaking more to herself than to him.
"I know, but this is just... I don't even have words for this!" that the young man was actually growling was not missed by Nurse Joy, however she chose to let his anger pour itself out rather than to pacify it, as she had seen that such things often worked out better for the passionate young man in the end. "Do you think we should try and call another center and have her transferred over?" Carl asked after his rage subsided.
"Probably. I just hope that this poor piplup can make the trip."
Neither Nurse Joy nor Carl said anything after that, however when Carl suddenly gasped out loud Nurse Joy turned to look at him curiously.
"Joy, what's today?"
"The eighteenth, why?"
"The moon is going to be full tomorrow, right?" Carl asked as he felt his blood bubble up underneath his skin as voiceless whispers whispered advice into his ears.
"Yes, but..."
"Joy, can I ask you to step out of the room?" Carl said quietly, his head bowed down to the point where the pink haired woman couldn't see his face.
"Alright, but what are you..."
"Just... I'm going to do something, and if works we can't ever speak about it again, alright?" Carl said, his voice wavering somewhat in fear and uncertainty.
"What are going to do?" Nurse Joy's green eyes grew hard as she stared at the young man who was now trembling slightly.
Carl said nothing, instead he turned his now crimson eyes to stare at the human. Nurse Joy gasped. "Please, just walk out of the room and don't say anything." Carl's low growl of a voice pleaded for second time.
Even though she didn't understand Nurse Joy nodded and then slowly walked out of the intensive care room.
Once the door was closed Carl let out a deep breath that he didn't know he had been holding and then turned to look down at the unconscious piplup. Raising up his hands and then clasping them together the were-lucaroc closed his eyes and then searched deep inside of himself for a certain familiar warmth. Because the moon was so close to being at the height of its power, that which was normally buried deep within him was flowering outwards to the point where it only took a small tug to uproot the bundle of energy that naturally sustained it, slowly bringing it up to the surface of his mind before releasing it outwards.
In moments streams of pink energy filled the room to the brim, its natural flow coming out in waves which the lycanthrope was sure could be felt outside of the PVC walls. Controlling the energy so that it could focus itself upon the injured piplup took more effort that Carl would have liked to expend, because through his aura could sense them, the other injured pokemon there within the building, some more hurt than others, but none of them near the level of critical condition as the water type trembling below him.
He instincts told him to let loose all of his power, to save them all, to heal them from that which threatened their lives, but he resisted the urge...because if he truly let himself go...if he became the figure of healing that his mind so desired...he wouldn't be able to come back to 'self' that he had built up ever since the bite.
Ten minutes later Carl opened the door, and as he had expected Nurse Joy was leaning against the wall, her chansey holding a now empty cup of tea in its hands. Both turned to look at the sweat soaked who smiled to them rather tiredly...
"I think the piplup is going to be fine now." Carl said with a tired smile.
...because at the end of the day...Carl was not a human...despite how much he pretended otherwise...
