This is my most personal and emotional piece of music. Certainly, its composition was a means of catharsis during a hard time. I hope you enjoy this raw expression of myself :3
Movement 1: Largamente e pesante
~~~
The movement is in Sonata form. First theme in Bb minor represents desolation and plants the motific seed of the whole first movement. Second theme in Db major, same rhythm, but more energetic, represents consolation. On the repeat, the second theme is left unresolved. The development starts with another rotation of both themes, the first theme less stable in octaves, then the second theme but in F minor and also less stable. The music builds to a variation of the second theme in G major, with a tonic pedal. Another build starts, and climaxes to a more passionate, yet still improperly resolved variation of the second theme. The recapitulation follows with a dominant pedal throughout, first theme in Bb minor, second in Bb major. More unstable than all previous efforts. The movement ends never having reached a proper resolution, leading directly into...
Movement 2: Vivace
~~~
This movement is in ternary form. The A section in Bb major is a cute dance, interrupted by outbursts of anger. The B section, with a new accompaniment texture, starts simply as a minor version (G minor) of the A melody, but devolves into chaotic sequencing of the accompaniment figure. A "grander" repeat of the previous movement's coda leads into the repeat of the A section, now infected with the B section's accompaniment figure. The movement ends quietly.
