More old art from 2010! This time it's. It's more Project LAYHR concepting, and also apparently what happened when I was studying cnidarians in my Paleobio class. Project LAYHR was always where I played around with cool things I learned about in school, whether it be things from genetics or any of my other bio units. To understand something better, you must first put it on a lab-created sparkledog.

Anyway, I thought I was absolutely hilarious for this one, and to show you just how proud I was of myself here's the old dA description:

<sub>Alright, so. 8| First thing you need to know is that we've been studying Cnidarians (which include anemones, jellyfish and corals) in my paleobiology lab. AHEM.

I want you all to imagine a completely normal looking, rather fluffy layhr who is also very friendly. There is nothing odd about it, and in fact it is kind of adorable because it keeps nudging your hand, wanting you to pay attention to it. What a cuuute layhr, awww!

And then it opens its mouth. 8D

That mouth contains a ridiculous number of anemone-esque tendrils, my friends. 8| They are all very squishy, and wiggly, and even worse yet, it likes to lick you with them. Thankfully I don't think they contain nematocysts (stinging cells) in them, but still!

This is all made worse by the fact that this layhr is preeeetty friendly, and I got the idea that it likes to press its nose into people's hands to get attention. If you don't pay attention, it thinks maybe licking your hand will work, and now you've got about a million wriggly tentacles all wrapped around your hand. (This also happens if you try to offer it any treats!)

....I also have the hilarious mental image of one of the main GeNtech staff/scientists (Jade) having that happen with the hand-nudging; just standing there discussing something with some labtech, ignoring the layhr that keeps nudging his hand, and all of a sudden...... 8DDD WHAT THE HELL IS THAT, AUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Still working on how exactly I want it to look in terms of overall body and color, but I'm pretty happy with this start! I don't usually share straight-up concepting stuff here (I may wind up putting this in scraps), but this was so hilariously messed up I had to share. 8'DD There must be something wrong with me, I've been cracking up over how horrible this is for the past several hours. THIS THING IS SO MESSED UP. XDDDD;;;

I also couldn't wait to use that title. 8D

edit: OH YEAH ALSO. I was thinking the tentacles probably serve some kind of sensory (in addition to treat-securing!) purpose, so this guy probably likes to touch eeeeverything with them to figure out what it is 8| They probably aren't terribly strong (enough so to pull treat into mouth, but likely not to actually manipulate anything of too much substance), but seem like they'd be very good at feeling around things.</sub>


Oh, sweet younger Zeon, discovering the concept of mouth tentacles for the first time. The world was so new to you then. Anyway I think this little guy should get to have some nematocysts, as a treat. Maybe ones he can control, just for when somebody is slacking in the treat department. I just want you all to consider how dogs will stand outside a door and lick under said door when they think they can get treats that way, and now consider that with this.
