There's a new sapient species in the galaxy, and for a Nevok like Sosute, that means new customers! Only problem is that they're predators, who live by ending the lives of others and devouring their flesh. Okay, second problem: she just ran into a military ship full of them, who have "politely" asked for her ship to stay a while. Luckily, she has a foolproof strategy to get out of this mess: Bribery!

I have no familiarity with the setting, so i went into this as straight sci-fi xenofiction, and i gotta say it was fantastic. It's incredibly fun to accept everything the narrator says at face value, and then slowly piece together the fact that he's wildly misinterpreting anything due to his species' personal lack of experience with humans, reinterpreting how behaviors are described to the audience in the process.

And yeah, viewing ordinary actions through an unusual lens is a lot of fun - to someone who thinks you're going to eat them, raucous laughter and the way our eyes instinctively lock onto things must be terrifying (but not more terrifying than losing out on a potential sale)!
