drawing and descriptions made for an event held on tumblr back in february (ockiss25) (didnt finish the event)
from left to right, in order:
is that someone in the shadows? i wonder who that is?
Claude Nepenthes - originally was a self insert, ended up evolving away from that. the youngest lorewise but was the earliest oc i made out of all of them.
claude is from a world very similar to ours. they died in their young 20’s and ended up caught in the space between worlds. in their desire to chase their dreams of owning a coffeeshop, they ended up founding an entire town of souls lost in the space between worlds. the most baseline human of all of them, though certainly far from helpless even if they prefer to stay in the background.
Ambrosia of Lepus - created for a now-scrapped story. essentially a retired (dead) protagonist of his own fantasy/drama story.
ambrosia is from a fantasy world where the gods have long since left their skies. the nobles of his city took advantage of their position and power to live in luxury while the common folk toil endlessly thanks to the divine treasures left to noble family lines from when they were favoured by the gods. ambrosia, angry about this, stole a treasure and launched a revolution to tear the nobles from power by stealing all their divine artefacts - but died in the middle of a heist at the height of the revolution. now he lives his afterlife in a cozy coffeeshop between worlds, occasionally venturing out for adventure but far more content than he was in life.
Lycomedes of Grus - created as a foil to ambrosia, was once a key character in ambrosia’s backstory who grew into a story of his own. essentially an eternally wandering knight/paladin.
lycomedes is from a fantasy world where the gods are alive and very very present. everyone from his world knows what it means purely to entertain a being so much stronger than them. a revolutionary once tried to rip the gods from the skies - but was it ever his choice, or did the gods command him to entertain? it didnt matter until lycomedes was blessed by the dead revolutionary into continuing his quest, driving lycomedes into shattering the skies to free everyone before disappearing forever. lost when he once had purpose, lycomedes eventually wandered into a cafe between worlds where he meets someone oddly familiar.
Maera Blanc - design and personality created like a prophet receiving visons which is to say she kind of just appeared fully formed in my mind. i can trace a few things that inspired me to create her. was not written for a story, and though a few stories formed around her she doesnt really belong to any of them.
a selfish time traveller with a rabbit from wonderland motif, maera was changed both physically and mentally from constantly travelling time. erratic and stubborn, she refused to tear time apart just to save someone she cared about (though she did come close a few times) leading her into learning how to hop from universe to universe. though she has quite a few secrets held close to her chest, she eventually found a place she can call home where time doesnt quite reach. though, its quite strange, that stranger sitting by the bar looks kind of familiar.
