I will admit that they did a great job on the plastic Valkyrie kit. everything including the crew cabin's details are as good as the Forgeworld one... main bonus is that it doesn't weigh 10 pounds and any fall over 2 inches won't be the end of the world.

Yeah, I own three and for each I left the wings off since a spray of primer will hold them in and makes them much easier to transport.

As in mix my own, no. I use citadel paints (the ones GW makes)

For my Imperial armies, yes. But I generally do just over standard (base plus minor detail). I'm in it for the game and conversions, I know the tips and tricks of doing a awesome job. I just don't have the drive to go past standard.
