A long time ago in an era of chaos and upheaval, Yaldabaoth the mad king who waged war with the Pantheon of Legendaries believing only that if power gives one the right to rule, then he would become the strongest being in the world and rule over everything, even if he had to burn the world down first to do it!

During his rule he didn't know he was being undermined right beneath his nose by his own advisor and archmage: A Hisuian Zoroark by the name of Nychta Orpheus, but in secret he was called The Hierophant. Nychta organized the original Major Arcana, a secret society dedicated to stopping Yaldabaoth.

In their time, they failed; the rebellion they had stared was quashed and Nychta himself was executed, but Yaldabaoth was eventually stopped and sealed away beneath a mountain till somebody might find a way to deal with them more permanently. What few members of the Major Arcana survived and passed down their mission through the generations, that if ever a time comes where the world is threatened and Yaldabaoth rises to reap fiery vengeance upon the world, then here is hope that there will know what's going on, and organize to hold back The End of the World.

Nychta had two sons who survived and would go on to form a new kingdom and new royal lineages who started the Kingdom of Unova with the two brother Princes: A Hero of Truth, and a Hero of Ideals who divided the Original Dragon into Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem.

When Shade Oath was a young child, a conspiracy against his family unfolded. He witnessed the deaths of his parents, and he is certain he witnessed his own death...but he woke up later in the aftermath of the attack. He was adopted by family friend Auren Starfall and gained a brother/best friend in Auren's son Julien Starfall. Shade is very grateful to have found a loving family with the Starfalls, usually he tends to be reserved but can be an absolute joy around pokemon he's comfortable with. He's charming, fun, funny, and has a bit of a mischievous streak, but hidden deep down he also has a lot of repressed feelings about his birth parents, and internally he has sworn an oath of vengeance to find their killers and avenge his family.
