We're playing using the Mouse Guard rules, based on the Burning Wheel system. http://www.mouseguard.net/books/role-playing-game/ We're not really using the figurines in-game, but they are fun to have and sometimes they're useful for strategy and battle positioning on a hex map...

And totally get what your saying about positioning and what not, I prefer doing that as well rather than wargaming or whatever... well, guess that should be past tense, I don't really have a gaming group any longer. But I will check out these rules and thanks for the link!
