Going to be honest, when I woke up this morning, I almost wish I didn't. But, turns out there might be some hope, though it won't be easy.

Brick assured me that all I needed was access to 40's communication logs through a system STEEL uses called the "Link". It was encrypted and locked tight, but its not like that's something unfamilliar to a former STEEL soldier. He spent most of yesterday trying to break through with some gadgets he had. Looks homemade, maybe Wrench's doing, but I won't pretend to understand it as I was only focused on my book. Drawing away the hours trying to process all that happened, and staring at 40's pistol, which I took along with me. No morbid intentions, but I felt that if I was going to stop X0-C3, I was going to do it with her gun.

As for today, we kept moving. One foot in front of the other. Not really much to write about. I just felt... empty.

However, at the day's end, Brick managed to crack the device. It revealed 7 communication logs, detailing why she was at the Foundry, her reassignment, detailing past encounters with X0-C3, and how STEEL effectively left her for dead. It was a lot to take in. I would've thought something like a wielder would be something STEEL would value more. Instead, she was abandoned when she needed them.

Fuck, first the Quincies, then 40. I wonder just how many people STEEL as fucked over? Maybe it explains why at least one wielder defected to the Cult, and that safe haven for wielders I heard about at the Nest.

The more I learn about STEEL, the more scared I get.
