"Oren hails from a cold, northern province with lots of mountains and mines; the Clans from this region are skilled with hunting, mining, and forging, and the weapons they make are famed for lasting lifetimes.
In the Clans, there are lots of customs and rituals surrounding those skills and their history. Each child is gifted a weapon forged by the Clan Blacksmith at the age of 12. Oren chose a sword, which is the most common weapon chosen. From then on, the children are trained rigorously to use their chosen weapon, and it becomes almost a part of them. It is considered a massive dishonor to lose or damage your First Blade, and Blacksmiths do not put as much effort into making regular weapons, so they cannot be replaced. To each Clan’s Blacksmith, forging someone’s First Blade is treated as sacred, and special care and resources are put in to make each one a piece of art with little to no defects, in order to last for lifetimes...
