I have had mine for about 7 years now, somtimes she dosent mind being handled but if shes in a bad mood i leave her be XD
Shes certainly not the nicest spider in my collection.
In my experience i have found the mexican species to be pretty intelligent.
I wouldnt say they smell it exactly, maybe more sense it.

Well this tarantula is native to south america there for they are fast growing. It takes 10 or so years for an adult female to mature and the male maybe less.
American species are known to be much faster growing and maturing than all the rest wich in a way is ashame cuz it gives them a shorter lifespan.
I will feed her when she settles in her new home but its up to her how much she eats ^^
