Another wonderful collaboration between me and my wife
Thank you for the fabulous inks here babe!! =^.^=
I had sketched Lady Malmsteen as three Final Fantasy characters throughout the series sometime last year after finishing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
One character I had in mind for a long time was Edea from Final Fantasy VIII. I figured Lady Malmsteen would would fit that role to a T. She looks rather cocky having that piercing icicle magically produced in her hand. You know...the icicle that..ahem...."killed" the main character. More than being a sorceress was the color choice for Edea's outfit that really fit Lady Malmsteen. Plus both have black hair. Ultemecia despite being the main villain wouldn't have fit her as much. In fact she is filling the roles of protagonists or neutral characters here.
Among them being Lulu from Final Fantasy X. I had already drawn her as Lulu before a long time ago: along with Dudley Puppy as Squall and the first time I drew Kitty as Tifa Lockhart. (Check out some of my other past works before when I combined Final Fantasy with TUFF Puppy.) She is posing rather provocatively here. Partly because I wanted to show her leg to peek out from under the elaborate amount of belts Lulu's outfit infamously has. Like Edea, the whole black gothic outfit motif and being a sorceress (or Black Mage here) in this case fit her. And in an earlier picture I did of her as Lulu I gave her Cosmo as a doll since Lulu uses dolls as her weapons/magical conduits. Making references to past Hartman shows using those dolls was intentional.
As I mentioned earlier I made the sketches after completing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. A character role that I gave her while not the most prominent was still befitting of her. I drew her out as Madam M from the Final Fantasy VII Remake series. (Including both Remake and Rebirth.) Madam M appeared in both and if you can't guess.....the name was primarily what made me decide on this role for her. Sometimes Lady Malmsteen is referred to as Lady M. So naturally Madam M is a fitting alternative. The other part being she is part of a trio of influential people who run Wall Market under Don Corneo. It should be noted that Madam M did not appear in the original FF VII. It should also be noted how insanely detailed her kimono and hair ornamentation is.
Edea's costume with it's golden frill was very elaborate. Lulu's many belts and equally elaborate hair ornamentation was also very detailed.
But it was Madam M's kimono design and hair ornaments that are undeniably the most complicated here. It shouldn't be surprising she took the longest to make.
I'm glad to have gotten this collaboration finally done. And it shows how much of a fan I am of the series....as well as how I am long waiting for the day when Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 (the grand finale) arrives!
