'Famous Detective Holmes' or as most fans will know him as 'Sherlock Hound'.
His origanal Japanese voice actor was Tachiro Hirokawa & his english was Larry Moss.

No problem. Ghibli was actually founded the year after this was originally broadcasted, in 1984. The studio was founded in 1985. Miyazaki though only directed six episodes, due to complications with the estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle over the use of the Sherlock Homes concept and by the time everything was sorted out, Miyazaki moved on to other projects, some of them included the founding of Ghibli.
