How would this construction handle while firing upon an incline? Or is it's primary use to be upon flat terrain? While the legs look like the base support is good, I am wondering about the top-heavy aspect of it upon slopes.

while the design allow for a limited traverse for the chasis on slopes it's mot recommended to fire salvos while on unstable terrain, though the recoil of the guns are well dampened with an advanced shock reduction system.

I see. And in the event that the military that employs this desires a model which is capable of easier deployment through more rugged terrain, what (If any) pieces upon this model would be able to be made modular to such a need?

The weapons are fully interchangable with 100mm D10T guns or ML10 152mm howitzers for a variety of purposes. Typically, this model isn't armed with twin weapons when used in a mobile situation. but for fire support and defense, they work well since they are one of the few soviet vehicles that can take advantage of a hulls down position. as their legs allow them to aim the guns very low.

I see, what other variant models would be employed then, seeing as how this is for fire support and defense, what infantry/assault models would there be?

the infantry support variant should be equiped with smaller caliber rapid firing guns, around the 76mm range with short barrals. As well as turrets since the heavy chasis is difficult to swivle around effectively. Infantry support variants are also heavily clad in armoured skirting to protect the legs and underside from HEAT ammunition.
A direct assualt model for this vehicle doesn't exist since it's simply far too vulnerible to heavy anti armour rounds. It's primary weakness is being caught out by enemy tanks that can outrange or outtarget it. the ideal usage of these walkers is as support for heavy tanks to add extra firepower.

So their ideal position is for additional firepower support, without having to infer the flaws of a tank's targeting limitations. Interesting. Are these variant models employed in civilian positions?

they're highly experimental so they're only so far in with the frontline armoured corp. depending on performance on the field, they'll either enter standard production or just be another footnote in history.

I suppose it will all depend upon the battlefield, and their performance therein. At least when it comes to that, we shall see. If nothing else, history shall at least acknowledge the efforts of such a fine machine.

Their potential was limited in the times that they were employed. Were people to look upon the devices of old and improved upon with modern technology, one can reach the true potential that was otherwise denied them.
