The four hippos after being ambushed by Toy Maker and transformed spent a few weeks in Toy Maker's private collection before he eventually grew board of the four and discarded them to the wilds of his island like so many other toy folks. The four of them were in a bad state and believed that their leader Fiona would eventually notice their disappearance and come looking for them so despite their worry they joined the toy folk society. After a few months without any sign of rescue they decided that they would try to escape the island however other toy folk strongly protested and warned them about the consequences of such action. Jewel and Candy had decided it best not to try and escape while Clair and Aubrey decided to try and flee the island in the dead of night...they didn't get far as Toy Maker was quick to collect them and bring them to his "work shop". It was a month later that Jewel and Candy were able to reunite with Clair as here mechanical head fell out of Toy Maker's pocket, Alive but too traumatized to tell her fellow hippos what happened to her and the missing Aubrey down there.
