Travelling through a scorching desert to reach the city of Ilnar Alari is already a dangerous task on its own and doing that with a wagon full of goods and wares (and some contraband magical objects and trinkets) makes it even more dangerous. So I found myself in the need to ask the city guard for a guard escort to dissuade the people that might take some interest in the wares I carry during my resupply trips to the southern cities.
“Is there something wrong?” The city guard captain asked when he saw mine and Raketh’s reaction when we saw each other. Luckily he was too busy to have time to pry further otherwise it would have been quite awkward to explain to him that we already got acquainted with each other. After filling the necessary paperwork and paying the escort fee, Raketh helped load my wagon and we hit the road.
A 7 feet and half tall fully armored dragon has proven to be an excellent deterrent for any bandit or scoundrel who wanted to steal my goods and also an enjoyable company for the entire length of the trip. I loved the lengthy conversation we had during our week-long trip and during them I found out that he is quite knowledgeable about the northern kingdom's history and artifacts. I wonder how he knows so much about it.
Less enjoyable was when he found out the secret containing my smuggled goods and artefacts. Buying his silence cost me some gold and some artefacts but it’s surely better than being thrown in jail for smuggling illicit goods and artefacts.
After we came back to Ilnar Alari, we said goodbye to each other and went our separate ways. But I do hope I will get another chance to travel with him. He is a very reliable guard, a great travel companion and I am sure that I can find a way to use his knowledge of the northern kingdom to improve my “side” business hehe
I told
raketh that I would've liked to get an art piece inspired and settled in the world he created for his character and he was thrilled at the idea. Together we came up for a background for my character in his world and then this idea for the piece.
