It's been some time hasn't it since the last upload, laziness is a bitch.
Anywho, new character! This is Doort Nock, and oh wow! It's NOT a dragon for once!
So the story behind this one is pretty simple:
Anyone who's played this fun not-so-little 4K game called Stellaris likely recognizes this design as Lithoid Portrait #10 from the Lithoids DLC, and you'd be correct. I've always been a fan of this portrait in the game but always hated playing the race due to how slow Lithoids reproduce.
Regardless, first time player gets the complete package on a massive discount (As you do with Paradox games; this was Version 3.6 for reference, the Overlords DLC had just come out) and eager to play the game I rolled up my first empire: A race of silicon-based life forms known as Onyxians, and all their planets named after gemstones:
The Ethics were Xenophile, Pacifist, and Materialist.
Civics were Mining Guilds and Meritocracy.
The origin was Scion (This was axed from the lore, I only picked this back then because it was credited as "beginner mode")
With their leader being non other than this guy: Doort Nock. The name is not original, it's pulled from the Lithoid 2 namelist. But the character was born from the empire itself.
A few years later I had a desire to make Doort into an actual character in my own fantasy universe: where he is head researcher who goes out and does field research into the great beyond. So I considered my roster of artists and choose
to commission to draw this art you see before you, and they perfectly captured the vision I had for Doort! I took some further steps to reason how the race would dress and how they would handle tools/weapons/devices without fingers with prosthetics. He has a non-clothed and hooded version as well.

DSW7, thanks again!
PS: would you consider this character a Taur? I personally don't really think so, but that's just me.
