Story Start - Part 1

The assault on the Castle of King Sombra was a desperate attack. Their only goal being to rescue the Princesses or if possible, the Elements of Harmony. A few teams were deployed, each aware of how desperate their attack was. If nothing changed, the Rebel base and all the ponies who yet remained free from Sombra's Corruption, those still in Equestria at least, would fall within two years.
Nightlight Aura, Star Eyes, and Sunday Cream, under orders from Mistress Mare herself, would attack from a side entrance while the other teams would aim to either sneak in or cause a big distraction if caught. The goal being to draw forces away from any other team who might still be free.
Getting in was the easy part though, as the trio of mares found out. The entrance was, in hindsight, remarkably free from *any* drones who may have spotted them. Of course, it didn't help that soon after they entered, they stumbled into a trap set for them. But they wouldn't go down without a fight!
Alas, the Drones were endless. For every one drone defeated, several more seemed to take their place. But in the end, the trio could not stem the tide of Drones.
Sunday was the first to be defeated, a pair of drones managed to pin her arms to her side after she blocked a strike from a third drone. The ropes were pulled tight, preventing her from using her sword to cut them as several more Drones swarmed her. As she tried to fight them off with her remaining magic, a light blow to her horn and a null ring added on afterwards just sealed her fate.
Star Eyes, skilled as she was with her spear, could do nothing but stare at her now destroyed weapon. Shock across her face as she watched her spear, made of Ash Wood and tipped with a magically sharpened steel tip, just fall apart in her hands. Severed by one of the specialized Drones that the Rebel Spy network failed to mention. Her clothing quickly joined her spear on the ground by her legs. A drone tackled her from behind, pinning her down helplessly.
Nightlight, the Assassin of the group, utilized her stealth as much as she could. Seemingly to appear and vanish just as quickly. Nearly untouchable as she tried her hardest to free her friends. Unfortunately, even with her stealth, it was only a matter of time before one of the magic blasts hit her. While one or two were easy to brush off, the lingering corruption grew with every strike. Slowing her down till eventually, her eyes were glowing green with Dark Magic corrupting her, forcing her to remain still long enough to be pinned down, right beside her friends.
One by one, the dreaded red Hypno-Visors that had enslaved soo many of their fellow Equestrians, were wrapped around their heads and activated. Their mission had failed. Now they would Hail their new King soon enough...
