I remember a Bill Cosby stand-up routine mentioning a "memory-reset" was his back-side.
The reasoning comes from when he returns to his seat after going into the other room asking "Why did I go to that room in the first place?" He would sit down, then IMMEDIATELY declaring "OH YEAH! That is why!!", gets up, and returns to the room.
