The Endless Forever Until Dawn
A bit of art because of a 4e D&D one-shot I'm going to be running today.
The one-shot is going to be set in a kingdom that's been cursed with eternal darkness. Evil creatures of all kinds have begun coalescing under the permanent umbra, namely the undead, as the lack of sun removes one of their biggest disadvantages.
As things settled past the initial panic of the curse, 3 rings established themselves: The disparate outskirt towns, clinging to the illusion of normalcy; A chaos seeped no-man's-land of monsters in the middle; and in the center, an endless siege around the kingdom's capitol of Coromont.
As a sign of defiance against the onslaught of darkness, Coromont's archmagi constructed an artificial sun, a pale imitation of the real deal, and not enough to give a vampire a sunburn, but capable of providing light for the rest of the kingdom and more importantly, the hope of things going back to normal.
So all that's left that needs explaining is Jack. The supernatural quality of the darkness hasn't just been summoning undead and demons through incentive alone, creatures of darkness from all around, even other realms are being summoned underneath the shade. Granted, Jack is probably not showing up for the one-shot, but theoretically, he'd be drawn into the fray.
