This was my first attempt at digital painting, and I was pretty happy with the results!
I made this piece referencing a photo my grandmother shared with me of her favorite tree while she was paying her respects to family long-passed. She used to paint and was quite good at it, so I asked her some tips on brush strokes and colors and made this as a gift for her.
I also picked the brain of
UCBronzewing on her techniques for painting and brushes which helped me hone my logic for how to put this together. I had followed her work years ago on DA and was surprised to see her work popping up on FA while I was working on this last year!
You should absolutely check her page out! She has such a fantastic, traditional style with digital painting, and her pieces are gorgeous!

I love this. I love the abstract nature of the headstones, and by contrast how boldly the tree dominates the frame as the primary subject. I like how you created the trunk with those brush strokes, and how high the leaves extend; Straight up into a cloudless space of sky~
It may not have been intentional, but I found it impactful to ponder what a beautiful tree like this may represent in the setting it finds itself in <3

Wow, thank you for all your feedback and intricate observations! <3 The tree was absolutely the subject of the piece, so it felt right to give it the most detail. I think the greatest compliment is hearing my art made you ponder. I feel intention takes a back seat to how one observes and interacts with art. I hope your pondering led you to meaningful representation for this tree, and I'm touched I could have been part of this journey. <3
