I've been working on and off on this one. Hope it's a clear reference -- it's about bare minimum for a 2D animated character.
My second Gargoyles character Coraly, whose story is set in medieval Ireland.
(so as you can see, yes, I do model sheets. Hm.)

Thanks!
I created her early in the Gargs fandom because there were no beaked gargoyles, and of course the only beaked gargoyle we had an example of was Brooklyn. I put the nose at the tip of the snout rather than next to the eyes, and as I drew her more I turned the nose into more dragon-like nostril slits. The hair I kept in style with the Gargoyles models -- two strands in front of the ears like the Magus, Yama, Hyena...
And yeah, I wanted more of an "armour" on her than other gargoyles, a little like how Hudson wears the breastplate and breeches, because of his dealings with humans as the clan leader.

I thought that was a little strange that they had presented so many possibilities to the gargoyle anatomy as far as the head and face and yet most of the time they appeared human. They had the beaked gargoyles like Brooklyn, the headshields like Ophelia, and even presented the livery "anthromorphic" gargoyles like Griff, Leo and Una. Even in Japan, where they had the possibilities of making them appear more like the Samurai demon masks or the oni from legend, it seemed a bit like a cop out that they instead made them simply human.
So it's nice to see beaked females! I still kind of felt like Brooklyn's mate from the comics was a bit of a cop out or a bizarre design for her anyway. I liked that she had a beak, but it was so weird looking o_O She reminds me of kermit the frog.

I agree with you on the Japanese gargoyles, and despite the first drawings of Constance done by David Hedgecock, I loved that she was 1- a boar and 2- not the typical female body we've been seeing on all female gargoyles in the show.
Males had a lot more variety in facial structure - Lexington has the huge eyes and underbite, Broadway has the squashed nose and huge chin, as well as the webbed ears, even Hudson has the high nose, split lip and wide mouth that makes him a little more animal-like than human. But you mention Ophelia -- all she has was a triceratops forehead over a human face, yet again.
... and now I want to design female gargoyles with the range of the original Trio.
