I'm not particularly a weapon person, I don't think I am personally a weapon person, but while working on a comic project for (hopefully) my college degree, I realized I needed to make the antagonist's gun its own thing. While I already have a 3D model of the 800 special done, I didn't want the villain to have such a powerful handgun because it could, lore accurate, blow the arm off of someone if shot at close to medium range, and that is a problem for reasons explored in the comic.
Off I was to do a revolver, which given the world setting, couldn't be suuuper thecie, because it'd fall under the sci-fi or futuristic themes that didn't work. I took main inspiration from the R8, since it's a modern gun, or as modern as revolvers can get I guess, but wanted to find a nice middle ground, where is not a powerful large beast like say, a 500 magnum, but could be a powerful enough weapon for its size.
Ultimately I ended up modifying the barrel slightly; since this is fiction, the Cylinder's ejector rod doesn't rest at one side of the barrel, but rather it's inside it don't even begin to ask me how that works in the first place, but that way it doesn't interfere with the barrel's engraving, which I didn't find a good angle to show off. I also wanted to make like a diamond pattern around the cylinder, but remembered that, not only the eye needs a place to rest from all of the information, but most importantly, I'm going to be drawing this in multiple comic panels, and I'll be damned if I had to do that cylinder pattern over and over again, as if doing the engraving wasn't bad enough.
Overall, there are some things that I could have improved, like adding a bevel or chamfer to the trigger guard, but couldn't manage to do it, among other things, but given that I'm going to be using this mainly as a reference, those changes can be done in the drawing process, I suppose.
The cylinder holds 8 bullets, given that the round dimensions are fiction, we don't need to get into specifics there.
I'm thinking maybe next up I do Nina's Pepperbox, that could be an interesting ordeal.
