I'm thrilled to finally release the first of the 20+ camp songs I've written (so far!) for Camp Chimera.
Please enjoy "To Camp Chimera", as you take the long bus ride to the campground.
Nothing says "camp song" like an acoustic guitar for
accompaniment! But because A) I cannot play the guitar
and B) I broke a finger a couple months ago, I enlisted the
help of a guitarist from IRL who has asked to be credited
as Q. Manatee. So thanks very much to him!
I wrote the first draft of the A section immediately when
I heard the news from Peri and Zray that they'd be following
up the University Rivalry event from last year with a summer
camp theme! I was so hyped off of the two University
Fight Songs I composed last year, I knew I wanted to go
even harder this time around. I hope you all enjoy the result.
I am truly honored to be trusted by them, and Fisher, to be
the "Official" songwriter for Camp Chimera. Thank you for
the opportunity to be part of this amazing community event!
But official shmofficial! We strongly encourage all campers to write
their own camp songs in any and all genres, and to feel free to cover,
remix or mash up any of mine! Just give attribution when using others'
work, including our esteemed counselors of course :)

Essentially, three artists got together and created a virtual summer camp, which will have all kinds of participation events, including ones that earn you points and merit badges. It's kind of like a group world building project / ARG too as every participant is encouraged to build on the lore. It's mostly on a discord server but it culminates in some optional in-person events at Anthrocon this year.
Two of the three artists did something similar last year to go with FWA's "Furry University" convention theme and it was a big hit, so it's kind of like a "back by popular demand" thing with a different theme. That one you could join one of two rival schools so there was also some competitive spirit / "school pride" that went into the fun of it. This time you can choose one of three cabins to join for a similar feel.
I think it's also kind of similar to art fight or inktober, it just gets people excited about participating and making furry art together and creating a world around a shared community event.
