I know the feeling about walking quietly. I used to be an avid hunter, and walking quietly is necessary to be even remotely successful. Because of that training, I still walk rather quietly so I can accidentally sneak up on someone. I couldn't tell you how many people have literally jumped a foot off the ground when they see me standing there unexpectedly.
