A picture I took on my forest trip. I tried my best to pick a few nice looking ones.
I'm no professional photographer but I enjoy taking pictures on my walks and sharing them. 🦊 🐾
Foxglove flowers look pretty but they're poisonous. I like them because of their name.
They're known as Fingerhut or Fuchskraut in German.
They're mentioned in an old folk song from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, "The Ballad of the Two Little Boys":
He's gathered up herbs and the foxglove flowers
And the heads of the brown toadstools
And he's mixed it into his stepfather's wine
And he's mixed it into his gruel
A boy exacts revenge by poisoning his stepfather after he saw him throw his brother down a cliff from afar. No explanation of the stepfather's motive is given but it might've been jealousy over inheritance of the castle and lands.
