Brinicle grew up in a very strict family. Her parents were adamant that she should not waste her time on frivolous friendships, and should instead devote herself to her studies so she could succeed in the world and live up to the family name. This led Brinicle to distance herself from most dragons, developing a cold and prickly exterior despite truly being a softie deep down. She doesn’t like having to be so mean all the time, but feels obligated to out of respect for (and fear of) her parents.
It was aboard a small passenger flight to visit her parents for their yearly appraisal of her that everything changed. Brinicle, who had been trying her best to ignore the other passengers, found herself being pestered by a SeaWing passenger named Gully and his many bad jokes. Eventually one of these jokes got Brinicle to finally laugh and smile, and it was at that very moment of levity that the plane flew into a field of distorted reality and Brinicle’s life was forever changed.
Brinicle found herself stuck in the form of a toy, her brief moment of happiness now permanently sculpted onto her face. Her lack of mobility and small size were alarming at first, but as she was played with by the kind dragonet Auburn she came to realize that this new form wasn’t all that bad. Thanks to her bright, smiling expression Auburn perceived Brinicle as a happy little toy, and imagined the IceWing toy as cheerful characters. It was incredibly affirming to Brinicle to be seen for the softer dragon she always was. Not having to put up with her parents anymore was a plus as well; it wasn’t like toys had to worry about work or keeping up societal appearances after all!
Brinicle has come to enjoy toyhood, and spends every day looking forward to whatever new adventures Auburn will put her through.
A very quick ref I did for a character I brainstormed for a story idea WholesomelyChaotic and I have been brainstorming together for a bit. She's a happy lil' toy derg!
