Now you mention it...
Zee-Zee was having a LOT of fun, playing with the other little cubs while the grown-ups chatted and watched them! Some of the other little ones were older and bigger than Zee-Zee, but he was definitely in charge of the game and having great ideas and bouncing around everywhere non-stop... when suddenly there came a grown-up voice behind him, asking "Do you need your potty, Zee-Zee?"
Zee-Zee stopped in his tracks, outraged that Mommy could say something like that! In front of the big kids! "NO I d..." he started to say, and then something struck him and he bit his lip in panic. Now he thought of it, Zee-Zee suddenly noticed that he DID need his potty! Very, very urgently! In fact, now he'd stopped bouncing around the room, it was all he could do to stop himself flooding his pull-up right there and then! "Yessssss! Quick!" he gasped, desperately!
Mommy had brought the little yellow potty with her and put it on the floor next to Zee-Zee. With a little difficulty (Zee-Zee tried to help, but was too flustered and squirmy to be useful) they pulled down his shorts and pull-up, and he could sit down on the potty and let the pee-pee flow!
Well, he actually started to pee-pee as soon as his pull-up started to come down... but MOST of it landed in the potty where it belonged, and it wasn't too much of a mess. Sitting on the potty and feeling much more comfortable inside, Zee-Zee ignored Mommy patting him on the head and thought hard...
Yes, Mommy was telling him he was a good boy and a very clever big squirrel, but did the other little cubs - who were all probably watching curiously - think so too? Or did they think Zee-Zee was some kind of little baby squirrel whose mommy had to sit him on the potty before he had an accident?
So while the potty filled up - and wow, that was a big pee-pee, maybe a new world record! - Zee-Zee's mind worked hard to formulate a very grown-up speech that would set everyone right. He mentally practiced the big-squirrel sentence to make sure it was good, and took a deep breath.
Addressing Mommy and the other cubs (who seemed to have just carried on playing, but must surely be watching closely anyway) Zee-Zee announced, sounding like a big grown-up squirrel, "You don't have to ASK me, Mommy! I'm not a BABY! I was going to go potty ANYWAY!"
He stood up and pulled his own pull-up and shorts back up, all by himself, and looked around proudly. "Good boy, Zee-Zee," Mommy smiled, and one of the bigger cubs said "Come play some more now!"
And Zee-Zee did! It was even more fun now he'd shown what a big squirrel he is! ^.^
