The Tanner's torture sessions were inflicted not only to the victims, but to the Clan members too (as spectators obviously... most part of the times), just to remind them what side they'd like to find themselves on.
Oz though, at the ripe age of twenty and as a clan Sultan, has never assisted to one. Granny really loved him THAT much.
