SkyspearDraw, I always see Chrysalis as a wild power that no one can easily wield unless you know who she truly is, inside and out. Inspired by the design of Majora's Mask, this is meant to be a transformation mask. If you chose to wear the mask, you will be transform into the Changeling Queen herself and you will have full control of her body after the mask is worn. Although, do be awry of the consequences when the mask is worn. The mask holds the actual spirit and emotions of Chrysalis herself. You must hold a stronger will than hers or else you will lose the mental psychological battle inside your mind and Chrysalis will be the new owner of her new body. Yes! Even when you remove the mask and return to your original shape, Chrysalis is still in your mind, manueving and controlling your body but she will not bother to use your body if she has her own to worry about. Yes, ANYONE can wear the mask but will YOU be the victor of your psyche mind? If you lose the battle, Chrysalis will soon build up her army again and she will start handing out everyone drone masks for anyone to wear but it's 10x worse. Once the drone mask is worn, you are stuck as a Changeling...forever... 💖🌹

I love the little context you gave to Queen Chrysaliss's mask.
Let's just imagine a naive guy who puts it on and feels intense pain as he's possessed by the Queen's essence. At first, he has control, but wearing the mask becomes addictive, wearing it for longer and longer periods of time, even not taking it off to sleep. Meanwhile, Chrysaliss's personality takes over, acting like her without realizing it, at first with mannerisms, then in the way he acts, and finally, the guy has taken the Queen's personality and mind as his own. Nothing of the initial host remains.
She goes unnoticed because she can alter her appearance, so she doesn't raise suspicions at first. This way, she keeps a low profile and, with the royal jelly she produces and some spells, creates many Changeling drone masks. Thus begins a series of hunting nights where she seduces men in the streets by taking the form of different women. When she manages to captivate the man and get him to swear loyalty, the magical contract is sealed. She puts the mask on him and turns him into a Changeling Drone, a humanoid insect-pony with no mind of his own and an insatiable hunger for love coupled with a blind desire to please his Queen. She does this with many men and soon has a great swarm of powerful servants ready to do her bidding.

Oh My! This is quite an interesting twist you put onto my context and I can definitely see where the backstory is taking place. Though, it would be fair that it is a mask of the queen's personality and emotions held inside but it is done by forbidden magic done back in Equestria if Celestia/Luna or Twilight and her friends manage to seal Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow to become this mask of horror. Although, I will say that the pleasure of owning the body of the Changeling Queen is rewarding but the consequences of wearing the mask for so long shall consume your mind and thoughts until you are Chrysalis herself. "I Am Thou. Thou Art I." The wearer of the Chrysalis Mask shall produce Changeling Drone Masks to attach to anyone she meets, male or female. The chilling horror of a parasite, methaporically and literally, that if not control, the whole world shall bow before the Changeling Queen herself, the wearer who lost their original identity. Plus, it doesn't have to be male at first. Could be female as well as the mask is meant to be unisex so anyone can wear. The mask is yours but will you be the victor of your psyche and mind? We shall see...

Yes, I thought about that detail about the masks being unisex a little while after writing the comment. And it makes sense. Under her new identity as the Changeling Queen, she would take enormous pleasure in changing men, but she would also do it with women. As a trace of her original nature, she would take pleasure in conquering women and having them swear loyalty to her so she could finally put the masks on them.
Another detail is the oaths. Ancient magic is governed by certain rules, and if they are followed, they become inescapable. Also counting on the power of the word, which is an important part of it, and also the responsibility of the affected person to know how much to accept from a verbal agreement. It's somewhat technical, but the point is that the victims here, men and women, surrender to Crysaliss, and she strips them of their humanity and individuality in exchange for perpetual power and pleasure. (That is, until a group of teenage magical girls with pony powers arrive to ruin the party, but that's another story.)

Let's not worry on those teenage girls with magical powers as it contradict the whole conversation. The mask, if worn, is only temporary to remove for a certain amount of time but Chrysalis likes their new host, it can be stay on permanently but perhaps if Chrysalis likes another host, it can make another mask of itself to produce separate colonies of the same kind but govern differently. But perhaps only one mask shall be the norm and only takes a mental fight to claim her victory.
Wow, that's great about being able to make more Crysaliss masks. It's like opening franchises in other cities. It would be interesting if, when making these masks, she started experimenting and making them have certain differences, like one with elemental powers or another that allows the wearer to become invisible. And as a bonus, when these skills mature and are perfected, they would be shared with the original Crysaliss, making her stronger and stronger.
