Festival of Change: Epilogue (Someguy Sketch 050) [STORY]
posted 11 months ago Not-So-Secret Shapeshifter!
If you haven't read Festival of Change, I suggest you do so!
One month after the Festival of Change....
Gabby was awoken by a wave of nausea. Groaning, she sat up and clutched at her stomach. Third time this week she'd woken up feeling like this, and she had no idea why.
Her thoughts were interrupted by an urgent feeling in her stomach. Forgoing her prosthetic, she quickly hobbled into the nearest bathroom and promptly emptied her guts.
She knelt there on the ground for a moment, panting a little. What was going on? She'd never been this sick before; it was almost like —
She froze. No, it couldn't be. They were — and he wasn't — but what if — could it be?
There was only one way to find out. As soon as she felt well enough, she put on her prosthetic, headed out to her bike, and rode off.
Gabby didn't return for nearly two hours. When she did, her mother was waiting at the door. "Are you alright? You left so suddenly; I didn't even get the chance to say good morning."
Gabby said nothing, instead looking blankly down at the floor.
"Dear?" Nicolette reached her hand out to touch her daughter's cheek. Instead of embracing it, Gabby moved past her, headed straight for her room. "Dear, what's wrong?"
"I just... I need some time to think." Her voice was low and distant. When she got to her room, she locked her door, leaving her mother confused and worried.
"A-alright, dear, I'll leave you to it. Just know that I'll be here when you're ready to talk, okay?" With that, Nicolette hesitantly walked away.
As soon as Gabby knew she was alone, the worry set in, and the tears started to flow. She sat down on the edge of her bed, knees wrapped in her arms as her mind raced.
All it'd taken was one word, and the doctor had shattered her:
"Congratulations."
Surprise! The next arc is nearly ready to go! Looks like Gabby's gotten some unprecedented news! How will this affect our characters going forward? Will Caddie take it well? And when will Gabby's father find out? Tune in soon!
Colored version!
