It had been a couple of years since Morgan had to look for new staff. Her employees all loved working at her restaurant The Silver Lining. Good wage, fair hours, lovely clientele and atmosphere. Not to mention being able to work with the world famous Chef Morgan, the once face of television cooking before she decided to leave that life mostly behind to pursue her personal passions. Recently though one of her bartenders had decided to move on to pursue his own brighter pastures and personal passions of his own. It was high time for someone new!
Morgan had a bit of a soft spot for new blood, people that were new to the food service industry or wanting to make their name in it. That small diner all those years ago took a chance on her, so it felt fair that she give a fair chance to anyone else long as they showed the passion and drive to succeed. This was why she decided to give a chance to a young man that had only just recently received his certification to bar-tend, a goat named Kayin. He was a bit shy, and barely had any experience under his belt. He had spunk though, a lot of drive. It moved Morgan, and she gave him a shot right away. He started the next Monday.
After a few weeks of training with some of the other barkeeps, it was finally time for Kayin to get the night to himself. The chef was quite excited to see how he would handle his first day out of training. She started her afternoon like any other, working with her head and sous chef to help them with prep and strategy, checking in with the front manager to make sure everything is well covered, and finally touching base with the bar to.. to discover that no one was there. Where was he? Where's Kayin?
"Has anyone seen the new guy? He's supposed to be prepping his garnish and I haven't seen him." No one else had seen or heard from him either, leaving the chef quite concerned. She fired off a quick text to the goat while she swung behind the counter to check the bottles and slice up some lemons.
Okay.. We might have scared off the new guy. I might have to work back here tonight unless someone can come in last second, not gonna count on that though. Maybe.. Her thoughts were interrupted though as she spots a grey furred gentleman burst into the bar from the kitchen side. His sleeves were rolled up, shirt not all buttoned, even his hair wasn't all that tidy. The poor newbie was panting, and looked like he had messed up, big time.
Was the chef upset? Perhaps a bit irked. Did she think about firing him on the spot? It did cross her mind. Suddenly she saw standing where Kayin did a younger version of herself, late on her first day too.. Completely hung over from a night of celebrating finally making her first steps in her career with her family. Remembering that mistakes happen, and those mistakes don't define us but what we do after does. Morgan couldn't help but let out a short laugh as she looked to the young man.
"You have a fun night? Glad to see you made it, I started prep for you. Go ahead and finish up, we're opening for dinner here soon and people are going to want drinks." He still had a nervous air about him, clearly feeling bad about being late and wanting to make up for lost time. To the point where he nearly injures himself slicing up some lime wedges. As The Silver Lining opened though, and people started flooding in, Kayin found some of his stride! He found his flow and started pouring drinks & chatting up customers the whole night. Now and again he'd look over to Morgan, and she'd give a supportive smile.
Thankfully by the end, the goat had survived his first night, and even had a haul of tips! As he was cleaning and closing up his station, Morgan came up to him one last time.
"Hey Kayin, good work today. I'm really proud of you for making it through a busy first day. I knew I chose the right barkeep. Just.. Maybe set an alarm and don't go so wild on the partying." She winks at him and laughs before wishing her newest staff member a good night.

Aaaaaaa you did an amazing job with Morgan's perspective~! I absolutely love it~! *happy bleats and bouncing all about~!* I actually like the bit where she's briefly irked, and thinks about firing him for just a moment, before she goes 'Oh, right, I've been in his shoes.'
Was so happy to collaborate to bringing this piece into reality, and it is still so darned cool~! *cheery bleats*

Hehe! ^!^ You're using the new shading to create a positive atmosphere! It looks lighter, and combined with the lighting and the brighter colors and the smiles make it look like a cute scene from a storybook! ^!^ And really adds some depth hehe. ^!^ The characters are really popping off the page. (And Morgan's breasts look bigger. XD Heheh~ 💚) Both look so professional, but causal. ^!^ Morgan looks so sweet and sexy, Kayin looks so cute! ^!^ And the bar's setting ups so colorful. Love the shadows under the shelfs and window, it totally looks like that in places with lighting all over the ceiling!
And love it when you colab with buddies! ^!^ The story's so cute and wholesome. Morgan's so sweet and understanding. ^!^ She really helps people, puts them 1st. How a business owner should be. ^!^ Glad Kayin's off to a good start. ^!^ And loved their side of the story too! ^!^ Hehe! Sooo cute how dedicated he is, and excited. ^!^ Just like most young bright-eyed fellows. ^!^ It's a cute little growing up story, 1 growing into the adult world, and the other growing by helping others into it as she remembers her own experience. ^!^

Thank you very much! Yeah the shading style can be for a lot more than what I had been doing with it as a means of making everything more moody and dark, haha!
Yeah Morgan's coat is a bit tight, ain't it? Oh well, I'm sure she likes it ;p
I like how Morgan's attitude was quite a bit. At first being agitated and even considering just booting Kayin on the spot, but then having that moment of vulnerability where she remembers where she was when she first started. You're right, people first because your people make the business successful. To have good people, you have to treat them well!
