Central Park Tourists (WTF 2011 commission)
A commission done for
lupinelonewolf at What The Fur 2011 in Montreal, Quebec. This pic shows two of Lupine's characters doing the tourist thing in New York City's Central Park, where a statue of Balto (remember him? This is the real-life version) was erected to commemorate his heroics. This marks the first time drawing a non-anthro canine--I worked from a (rather small) photo found on Google Images while in the Artist's Alley.
For display here, I put a couple of hours into cleaning up the lineart, as minor errors always creep into pics like this--slight misalignments, parallel lines that don't always stay parallel, intersections that don't quite intersect, and windows in the buildings that weren't always reasonably rectangular. I also cleaned up the brushed pencils where they overlapped the outlines, and used a clone brush to even out the pencil shading in spots where it was either too light, or otherwise inadvertently erased while performing the initial cleanup at the con.
Ink and pencil on bristol, digital touch-up under Micrografx Picture Publisher 10.
