The cover art for the Star Shepherd stories. Cosmic intelligences needn't be a Lovecraftian horror, at least as I imagined them.

What I find interesting is how mainstream your concept is. These days, people go towards Eldritch Abominations or Biblically Accurate Angels, but your idea is essentially a plain dragon, albei themed after outer space. The mythological draw of dragons also means that a dragon fits, anyways.
There's even data from the voyager probe now that it's past the heliopause that analysis is showing "macro scale quantum effects" that the visualization looks Lovecraftian out there with the ordering of the quantum matrix out in deep space. And some renderings of this data sure looked to me as if a virus were taking a picture from inside a VAST creature of some sort.
I knew none of this writing Star Shepherd. I simply inferred if the 5% of the universe we can interact with and study supports life, it had to be pretty obvious the other 95% we can only infer is there (dark matter/energy) also does. And because quantum particles like these theoretical materials and energies are superpositional, really can be anywhere, everywhere, indefinite in size and shape. And because of the quantum entanglement, regular propagation restrictions like light speed data communications and other functions at a scale big as a galaxy are instananeous. Meaning that the muscles and nerves etc function as well (better even) than organic.
