YCH 1: Playing sports is something that Alberta and her friends are good at. When [Your Character Here] came to visit Alberta on the Navajo Reservation, she was joined by her sisters Ilsa and Inez and family friend Cheyenne Bados. Together, they were engaged in a game of frisbee when Alberta noticed [Your Character Here] and excused herself to break away.
“Oh good! You finally came!” Alberta dashes to meet [Your Character Here], embracing them warmly. “Did you enjoy the trip? So good to see you!” (Sports Visit, $40)
YCH 2: “Wait, wait, wait - cultural appropriation?? Why would I be offended by that? If anything, I’d be flattered and honored to see someone wearing a traditional costume.” Though having no concept in her mind of what cultural appropriation is, Alberta freely shares her mind on the matter and flatly denies having personal offence towards the issue while being interviewed by [Your Character Here].
“I don't need anyone to speak for me, personally, or my family, on what to wear and not wear. As long as they're not mocking us or plagiarizing us, then it's fine. And me being a Navajo Indian, I am very much a fighter. But it goes deeper than that -” she explained, lightly playing with her hair, “nobody ever considers consulting history or research on why sports teams or machines are named after Native American tribes. And being called a ‘redskin’? That means you're a fighter. Hell, talk to my brothers about that - they are military veterans themselves and they’ll tell you all about it more than I can.” (Appropriation or Appreciation? $10)
YCH 3: Twirling her hair in anxiety, Alberta hesitated for a moment before responding to an important but sensitive question. The female cougar was directly addressed on the issue when her brother, Deiter, spoke up, matter-of-factly, “We are not supportive of this. Please leave us and any other American Indian tribes or other indigenous tribes out of this. As long as you have our respect and we have your respect, we are fine. Do not expect us or demand us to comply. We have our culture and traditions and you have yours, so we're all set.” (Sensitivity, $20)
YCH 4: “I can tell you that in many of the cases that my siblings and I have taken, most of these are surprisingly dealing with fake heritage. And that is where we draw the line. While it is a crime for fraud, it is not a crime to just casually wear a costume.” Alberta claimed, sitting across from [Your Character Here] during the podcast. With are her sisters Ilsa, Indy, and Inez, all of whom are also in agreement.
Alberta resumes her statement, “Although I can't speak collectively for us all, I personally don't have a problem with non-Natives donning a costume, even for casual use. Now if it's for mockery, stolen valor, or fraud, then we have a problem. But it doesn't offend me regarding a costume because the materials aren't real, just synthetic.”
Indy testifies next, “Believe it or not, mockery still occurs whether it be through racist slurs and insults, personal attacks, or other subtle means. Like my sister claimed just now and what I myself believe now, I am not offended either; none of us are. But these pretendian cases are becoming more extreme. We just need to stomp them out - keep our name and reputation clean.” (Stolen Valor, $40)
YCH 5: “Amelia, Sovange, stay close. We have absolutely no idea what we're going to be dealing with here.” Taking the lead in a rescue operation to save an anonymous client, Alberta, along with Amelia and Sovange, met together to conduct the rescue operation. They were armed just in case they were to meet certain danger, which was almost a guarantee. Thing is, they didn't know how much danger they would be in during this mission. (Rescue Mission, $30)
YCH 6: “Oh crap!!! I'm late!!” Once again, Alberta had lost track of time and now she is running late. In a clumsy, rushing moment, the cougar ends up tripping on her own two feet and falling down a small stairs. Despite landing on her back and having the wind knocked out of her, Alberta was still in overdrive, not even slowing down. She even brushes past her shirtless brother, Deiter, who also happens to be getting dressed for the same occasion. (Make-Up Time, $20)
YCH 7: “So, how do I look?” After agreeing to a modeling job along with her brother Deiter and her sister Indy, Alberta picked out a white formal dress to wear for the occasion. What nobody told her was that she could come however she wanted, including in casual wear.
Deiter and Indy end up peering at each other and back at their sister, only for the latter to speak, “Uh sis, you don't have to pick what to wear as long as it's modest. And you could've just come in how you were dressed yesterday. It's not a big deal.” (Modeling Stint, $30)
