The desert sun hung high, casting golden rays that danced along the curves of the old girl. Heat shimmered off the blacktop, distorting the horizon in waves. Iven leaned casually against the truck, arms crossed, one boot resting on the worn pavement. A gentle breeze rustled the fur on his ears, tugging slightly at the brim of his hat.

He squinted toward the sandstone arches in the distance, something catching his eye—a shimmer, a glint, maybe a reflection. He wasn’t sure, but it pulled at his curiosity like a thread on a loose sleeve. Maybe it was the old trail marker he'd heard about, or maybe just the desert sands playing tricks again. Either way, the road ahead promised stories, and he wasn’t the kind to ignore a good mystery.

With a quiet breath and a subtle grin, he gave the sky a nod. “Guess it’s time to find out,” he muttered, pushing off from the truck and heading into the heat with the slow confidence of someone who’s been here before—and plans to be again.
