Just a little comparison I wanted to put together comparing the old Master Yasei sprites (the ones in Chapter 1 and the demo) alongside the new ones I've made for Chapter 2 while I continue designing the recruiting mechanic ^vv^
Master Yasei was one of the very first monsters I made sprites for when I started Monster Mystery (the actual order being Magnamalo and Tobi-Kadachi, then Master Yasei), so naturally at this point I've gotten a little better at pixel art >vv< not much! but somewhere >vv> I started learning pixel art for this game specifically, so it's been a journey!
There's not much difference when it comes to the portraits, though I wanted to match his more... reluctant and subtle attitude more than what I made originally ^vv^ That, and the brows needed a serious bushiness touch-up! As for the movement sprites, some of the old sprites are just straight up missing his tail fur, and those diagonals were... real ugly lol
It's not perfect even now, the diagonals are just really hard to draw xvvx; but I think they're a lot better, which is good because he's so important in Chapter 2! I couldn't have him showing up looking like he did >vv< I hope you like them too!
Anyway, I'm really liking how the recruiting mechanic is looking so far, but the hard part will be the code for adding them to your team longterm and stuff, which is what I'm working on now >vv<; For now, please have a great weekend and we'll talk about it soon! ^vv^/

While I am open for commissions I'm not confident in my ability with sprites <vv>; it takes me a while to do them and I don't think it would be a good idea for me to try and make them for other people, sorry about that Xvvx; Though I have done Monster Mystery style portraits for people (like around the edges of this pic), I don't feel comfortable giving a comm or trade to an account that's only 3 days old, I hope you understand >vv<;
