Cake Cravings
Being excitable and eager to share his joy, Shiny was approaching his hatchday time of the year. Being used to occasionally having sweets and liking to bake pastries and desserts with the berries from his garden for all sorts of occasions, it was going to be a fun time in the kitchen again.
Sometimes it would be poffins, a brownie or simply a sugarcoated bowl of fruit bites, but given the nice circumstance he received a little basket with strawberries the other day for a well done errand run.
Shiny's plans were to bake a yummy strawberry short cake for Totodile's Day this year around.
Things were progressing nicely, the Totodile had decided to color inside the cake batter, whisking away while humming. Not too long after the batter went into the buttered up spring form, it got placed inside the oven and Shiny advanced towards preparing the strawberries.
Some of the berries he'd put inside a blender to turn into mousse, then put that on the stove while mixing it with some sugar and marshmallow until it became a sweet rosy icing. The rest of the strawberries he left on a cutting board to include inside his hatchday cake later.
Shiny wagged his tail over the sweet scent surrounding him. His mouth was watering up already at the thought of a nice slice of that cake.
*ding* The oven chimed. The cake was ready. Shiny went and tested it with a toothpick if any batter of the cake might be still unbaked. It turned out all good though.
Leaving the sponge cake to rest to cool down, Shiny filled the piping bag with half of the strawberry icing. The bag rested in a measuring cup with lukewarm water to make it later easier for him to spread the sugary paste on his cake later on.
He then thought, he might add a little crunchy glaze for the whole strawberries he'd put on top of the cake in the end. Quickly some sugar was melted into caramel and some skewered strawberries Shiny swirled around through the sugar to give them a thin glass-like coating.
Shiny enjoyed the reflective shine and sat them down to the side so he could now cut the cake. Beforehand he started to clean up until the cake was down to room temperature though.
Carefully the Totodile cut the sponge cake into two halves, then he picked up his icing and squeezed it out of the tip to create a nice layer strawberry marshmallow cream. Shiny also spread an assortment of strawberry slices in a circular pattern into the icing to add more of the fruity goodness.
After the second layer of cake, Shiny had a jolly time putting an extra portion of icing on his cake, then place the sugary whole strawberries on it and then yet again making cute swirls of icing.
The Totodile ended up using a bit much icing there and somehow lost track as he somehow had forgotten to cover up the sides of the cake.
Looking at the cake though with its colorful layers, the jolly Totodude didn't seem to mind though and cheered over the nice crown made of icing and strawberries. What a fun little cake he baked! =D
What I can absolutely tell, Shiny's cake surely would make for a tasty treat when it became time for it to be shared with his dudes and together they'd all have a wonderful time. And knowing much about a sweet-tooth's joy, maybe you even bring your favorite kind of cake to make this Totodile's Day even sweeter.
Because you all know, you can easily bait Shiny with some dreamy-sweet treat. (~^.=.^~) 🎂
HAPPY TOTODILE'S DAY everyone!
I occasionally visit by the crafts section and highly enjoy picking up design blocks with various sheets of colorful paper sheets. They look so pretty and I feel like for stationary ideas as well as for crafts they just look way nice. Plus, at least for what I have found, they usually are quite affordable, too. It sure is nice to imagine the most random to some neatly color-coded combinations.
I went and picked out one of my many Totodile scribbles to turn into a proper artwork, scanned it, added Shiny's accessories and then printed out several copies to make templates from. Cutting the templates out and tracing the shapes onto the design paper sheets and then cutting those out, were all going pretty smoothly as I was lucky enough not to have drawn too many steep angles that might be a bit difficult to cut the shape out.
Down the way I had to consider in what layers I will apply each section, but that wasn't too complicated either. What was a bit of a challenge was trying to nicely trace the marker lines, plus the gluing part. I somehow am so clumsy with anything related to glue. Would not want to ruin a craft by accidentally drawing at the wrong spots and having to cut out all the paper for a second time. XD
Anyways, the final result you see here is a photo of my Totodile's Day card that I only touched up by slightly increasing brightness and saturation. as well as adding the font for it because at that point cutting out every letter individually would have made it difficult for me to finish everything in time.
I'm happy with the results. Love how sparkly Shiny turned out. ✨
The initial idea for my scribble was based on how cartoon characters sometimes take a whiff of a delicious scent and that just makes them flutter happily over to that location. In this case I guess Shiny must have been having a nice daydream of his own cake there, which in itself likely would make a nice snack for any Pokémon with Dream Eater, hehehe. X3
I myself would gladly try some of that cake either. As it's my birthday again, I look forward to getting to enjoy some sweet nummies soon enough. More importantly though:
I wish all of you to treat yourself the best possible and hope that my submission added to your day.
Do you have any favorite kind of cake? Do you perhaps prefer a stack of waffles? And what other than snacks you'd enjoy bringing to Shiny's party? Happy to listen to your ideas down in the comments.
Thanks for reading and thanks for always staying totodily awesome, dudes! 🎈(~.=.o)🎉

Very late response, sorry. But I thank you for the kind greetings. I hope you might enjoy my submission, Kittypooka (I am not sure if I am still allowed to name you by your name because I want to respect your stance on separating between the various genres of creative content you are producing; which I mostly don't see because I use SFW pretty much always out of personal reasons). Anyways, I hope you are still well and I cheer for you still, treasuring the things you shared with me and hope you are going the places you are aiming for. <:3
Don't worry for the late response. You're welcome! I hope you enjoyed your Totodile's day! :3
Yeah I've been and still working on a lot lot of stuffs, here and outside of my Kitty Pooka account. But don't worry about it, I'm having fun! I'm also doing well thanks! ^^
I hope you're also doing well too. It's been a while I didn't see and chat with you. ;w;

Yes, I often tend to get anxious about accidentally offending others by forgetting their boundaries or that they have goals and projects that might be more important than silly me. I feel already grategul you always try your best with the English even that French likely is more enjoyable for message exchanges. Such ate all things that make me often become insecure nowadays and I would feel bad if I ruined your day by giving you any headaches.
Thanks. It's always fun to occasionally go to our local hobby sections downtown and see for some affordable materials to work with. As someone who likes to craft holiday cards still, it never stops being a happy occasion to get to do something with the, especially when adding some appreciation for my older doodles and implementing them into something that feels more complete.
A late thank you for the share of your comment. I wish you much joy and health.

Hehe, it's all pretty much inspired by the various cartoons I have watched, Shiny is a sweettooth so him daydreaming of cake or somebody else catching him with sweet treats for a bait is pretty much on character. And thank you for wishing me well and leaving positive feedback to my submission. Always happy to see people liking the happy-go-lucky moments with Shiny. =3
Ah, those all sound great. Cheesecake with a topping of cherries or strawberries make for a great combination in my opinion. The buttercookie combo is a classic of course. I recall all those recipies like 'kalte Hundeschnauze' and nowadays people have that trend with those Biscoff cookies in recent years to include them in their baking as that crunchy layer. It's fun.
Sorry for being so slow with replies. XD

2nd April 2025 is a rather jam packed day! Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos revival and your birthday. Blimey! Just...wow. ^ . w . ^
Anyway, have a wonderful happy birthday with plenty of birthday cake Marc. Rawr! *Hugs*
P.S. I recommend treating yourself to Croc or Brok The Investigator but I recommend the first one. Croc is just SO cute!!

Ah, happy to see this cute message again. I wished I'd have gotten to replying to it earlier instead of getting so occupied by family matters. *sending hugs by Shiny* X///D
Ah, yeah, I hope I can play that new version yet. The physical version of the game got super-delayed. I admittedly wasn't too convinced by the otehr game after looking at a few Let's Play sessions by folks (Vector the Crocodile stays my favorite investi-Gator). I likely rather pick something like "Lil Gator Game" for myself which oozes that playful charm.

Ohh...Had no idea I'm talking to a family member taking the place of ShinyTotodile. Though this message is 11 months late but better than nothing. (Again, I can't tell sometimes, I know there are those who use the same account to talk directly to me, while others have their own social media accounts but I digress).
Well, I mean, most people tend to just say a simple Happy Birthday message. But considering I was in choir 12 years back, we always did singing for someone's birthday, both melody and harmony!!
And that tradition has stuck with me for a looonnnggg time since, so I will type it out for any person who's celebrating their birthday, just to make them feel very special. Always great to be singing to someone's birthday, say with me and the "Imaginary" choir. Just so that it makes the moment feel very special, and not just a simple "Happy Birthday" message to go along with it.
And yeah, hopefully, last year, he enjoyed it as much as he will this year. Let him know that, when his next birthday comes up, I will tell him a happy birthday to him as well.

Oh, please don't get me wrong here. I tend to joke about myself being like a Slowpoke because I take so long and it fits the general looks of us Humans (funny ears, pinkish, big nose, sometimes a dork). I tend to address my mascot Shiny as not myself because I differentiate between what people think of as a Pokésona or a Pokémon mascot. I love Shiny a bunch and tend to think that others firstly enjoy how he's doing rather than boring normal me. <X3
Cool! I have only ever had choir practice years back in church as well as in school. I never joined a music course outside of it but I do like songs and fun tunes, think people who can play instruments are impressive and I respect them. So it's fun whenever people share music from over at YouTube with me.
Last year has been a bit topsy-turvy but I appreciate all the little things of which I might hopefully tell the one or other things from once I have stuff on my computer sorted out again. Much appreciation still.

Oh okay, I was thinking 'Hmm, I guess the real ShinyTotodile person is busy so, at least it's responded so.' I would have not known who was truly talking to me unless it was clarified. But better later than nothing.
As for being a slowpoke, that's on me trying to go through hundreds of notifications on furaffinity and deviantART (including Weasyl and Youtube. Yeah, there's a ton if you ask me).
Ohhh okay, sorry, I got confused which one is which. But thanks for clarifying it....Well, I mean, I prefer the human that created the character, not just the totodile him/herself. So it would be best for me to talk to the human version which is you, rather than the character. Then again, nice to hear from you after so long since you've been busy outside of furaffinity.
Mmmmm, yeah, I've been in choir since 1st grade, up until 12th grade. After high school, I never went back to choir or band. THOUGH, I have joined band before, but let me tell you, it gets harder the more you get through band in the later years of schooling, even coming across rests like 16/24 or 18/30. Like, how the freak am I supposed to rest for how long??? And also, if you ask me, I never wanted to practice my instrument, especially the brass instruments like trombone and such because...weell, they're LOOUDD!! I can't tell you when I try playing, it's just so loud that it can be heard around the entire house. Believe me, I've been there. And to pinch your lips when playing other instruments, including the proper breathing techniques, I just couldn't do it by the time I got to 10th grade in band camp, and dropped out after 7 years of band practice, and eventually choir after 12th grade. But the way our choir in high school sang when someone's birthday comes up, I've kept that tradition and method with me wherever I went, and do the same thing I've experienced in music class, with those online, because why not?? It makes someone like you feel special, as if everyone came in and sang you a happy birthday song. Even counting your age up if necessary X3 Always fun to type it out if you ask me. And sometimes, I'll even give you a very nice cake of any kind, or dessert of any kind. =333 <333 So yeah, there's your little tidbit history of why I bring it up with people since 2014/2015, for the past 11 to 12 years since.
Mmmm, I see. It make sense why the long absence, but once you get your stuff sorted out, feel free to come back to social media at any point in the later years of your life. And yeah, no worries man <3.
Until we meet again, and until your next birthday comes up once more for me to sing you Happy Birthday once more. <3 =D =) < D

Hehe, yeah, each treats it in their own way here on FA. I just don't want to disappoint folks thinking Shiny is like aPersona-level representation of myself and I turn out possibly much more boring to them in the end. Shiny lives rent-free on my mind so I let folks' addressing him influence my reactions when replying. But all good there.
Thankies for the spirited share of your experiences. Always a happy read.

I getcha. Again, I was confused as to why a shinytotodile character was talking to me than the user behind the account. But that's just me.
It's fine...I mean, it's not like I'm talking to a bot, but an actual user. But I'll say this, even Pet Shop Boys mentioned about "Being Boring" (1986 song). But again, it's one thing to talk to a character, it's another thing when I talk to the human behind that form, which I still find interesting. Again, on my end, humans can be as interesting as characters, just my take that's all.
Thanks. =3
Oh no problem, and hope you enjoyed your birthday last year, as you will be this year. Hope everything goes well for you in your area.

Belated thankies for the well wishes. I hope time has treated you and your loved ones all well. I think your art progress is still coming along impressively still and I appreciate the friendly share of yours whenever you considered having Shiny being in or an inspiration for a project. Much success with getting into 3D printing.
Happy belated well wishes to you, Hazel. Hope you had a happy time with your favorite people.
You and me both, yes. Daily duties mostly steal away my chances for doing lots of creative projects but I feel grateful whenever I come across the chance to reply back and enjoy the share of sentiments. Last year I have been more into sports -mainly swimming sessions- and here and there wrote letters to relatives and local friends for their birthdays. I also had fun with sorting through some of my stickers and trading card albums. Hopefully, things might not feel like time is rushing by during 2026. I still hope to someday try travelling some places for fun and nerdy shopping. =D
