Convention sketch of  vickshb's cat-dragon character Neru, done at C-ACE 2006, with a promise of a cleaned-up and/or colored version to come later. (As it turned out, much, much later O_o). One year later and C-ACE 2007, the final one, is upon me so I hurriedly made use of my day off before departing for the con, and completed the pic, adding a backdrop as compensation for having taken so long to deliver.

That backdrop wound up taking several hours longer than actually coloring the character. Neru is shown swooping past the Best Western Victoria Park Suites in Ottawa, Ontario (O'Connor and Gladstone streets if you're from the area) where C-ACE has been held for the past few years, and I figured that it would make an appropriate setting since that's where the original sketch was done. The hotel was drawn with a straight-line tool, using some photos of the building from various travel sites (I had taken pictures in previous years but couldn't locate them on short notice) and an aerial view from Google Maps' satellite photo feature. Since the hotel was drawn and saved seperatley from the character, a copy of that image is going to be sent to the staff at Victoria Park as a memento of the great time we had there over the course of the con's existence.

Technical: Not much to say here, there are some minor inaccuracies in the hotel, but anyone who's been there should recognize the building. The trees look a bit flat, but I was pressed for time, and the white building across the street was a "take a guess" job that proved to be kinda close to what was actually there (it is a white building, just not residential and was set back from Gladstone Street for a small parking area)
