E621 Age Verification, BTW Did You Read That News Post?
Feb 26th: A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.
Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

And the number of idiots going "oh they won't touch porn" astounds me, after several states have already been fucking around with it, to the point PornHub couldn't in good conscious serve those states... Then going mental gymnastics going 'oh it's to protect children', no... It's to de-anonymize you. They want to track where you go, and then classify certain fetishes/kinks as hostile towards the 'normal person'... This could be as little as bondage, and as high as Furry, as Texas and a few other senators have been trying to target the fandom and put them in bad lights, like they did drag queens. But those idiots will go "I'll just accept that" because they're cowardly idiots who want to be stepped on by the government, as long as the government hates who they hate...

No, it's the correct reaction to have. Too many people don't want to swallow the pill that porn is extremely political and many power forces have been working to make it harder and harder to host. Additionally, pornographic bans is the start of much wider net that will sweep up countless queer folks. It's happened countless times. I've watched so many places bend the knee. But, all the "THIS IS CENSORSHIP" crowd starts pissing and shitting themselves when you start asking political questions, tracing who holds the power over our art form, and pointing fingers in the direction of the politicians driving forwards this bullshit.
I am so tired of having to continue fighting this fight. and I'm even more tired of often feeling like I'm one of the only people doing it. so many people complain about these things and then when I ask them if they've actually called their elected representatives or wrote a letter, the answer is "no" far more often than not. Drives me fucking insane how many people will see a post like this, agree, and then just sit on their ass about it. If you are a US citizen, call your representatives. Especially if you live in Arizona. Please. Please.

It's painfully frustrating. People can't even stop using a single social media site (that may of them will tell you how much they hate?!). The amount of times I get hostile snap back isn't even funny. Furries are a party culture through and through, the moment you ruin that vibe Good Luck ™. I remember how many folks showed their whole ass yelling about "don't ruin the magic uwu". Meanwhile, I couldn't even step outside without feeling glares for being The Black Guy in the White Neighborhood.

Do you really think our senators or representatives actually care about the opinions of the little people? They can't get the funds to continue a lawsuit or maintain a public park, but they have enough to take 8 flights in their private jet each month?
I want this porn to be legalized, but even if a bill to ban it fails in one term, all the opponents need to do is keep introducing the bill after every election cycle until it passes.
Look at what the Supreme Court is doing. They overturned Roe vs Wade, and they are almost always bowing down to Trump's demands. Trump and his party have control of the courts and both houses of congress, so a justice would never be impeached. And they can just appoint a new one.

This is an unhelpful and completely defeatist attitude so entirely disconnected from actual reality that it's apparent you've never seriously made a consistent effort to speak with local elected officials or your representatives. Bluntly, I'm not going to entertain this conversation with you, because your defeatism and distorted reactionary attitude simply isn't reflective of reality and shows your lack of experience with actually doing the thing you are saying is pointless. Yeah, there are a handful of elected representatives that is true of, but it is *so, so much less* than you would believe if the only way you learn about the world is comments on the internet from other people already determined to be hopeless. Those of us actually out here making these calls and interacting with local government and local groups can paint you a very different picture than what will be said by those who've never bothered because they already decided it was pointless.
