The weather was finally warm enough for tank tops and shorts, and Atlas was ready for it. He studied his reflection in the bathroom mirror. Boulder-sized shoulders, a powerful, muscular chest, and arms big as tree trunks.
Now I can finally go outside and get the right kind of stares, he thought. Spring and Fall were tolerable, but the winter season was so cold he had to bundle up in too many layers. It made him feel small and weak. He shoved those memories aside as soon as they bubbled up to the surface. It was time to show off the goods, and by damn, he would show them off. It was Big Zebra Mode time!
As he left the house he opened up the app to his favorite coffee house and placed an order. Two glazed donuts with rainbow sprinkles. Enough of a sugar rush to jumpstart his day. The place was a short jog away, and he enjoyed the cardio. Not to mention the gawkers watching him pass by.
A short jog later he entered the coffee house, eyes glued to his phone to double check his order was ready. When he reached the counter he looked up at the person behind the counter. And up some more. All the way up to the ceiling where the lion’s mane brushed against it.
"HI THERE," the lion said as he grinned down at the zebra. His voice was like thunder and it vibrated Atlas’ frame. The zebra was currently big compared to others in the city, but the ginormous lion towering over him? He was in a league of his own. He didn't even reach the very big cat’s waist.
"I'm here to pick up my order," Atlas said, trying to think of every non sexy thought to keep from losing his composure. Blue skies. Birds flying in the blue skies.
Non sexy thoughts fled at the sight of those gargantuan pecs. How they bounced enticingly underneath the lion's apron as he grinned. "YOU'RE ATLAS?"
How did the lion make that question sound like a proposition of fun times? "Y-yes." He tried to bring back non sexy thoughts. Giant lions walking under the blue skies. No, wait! No giant lions!.
The ginormous lion turned around, exposing a broad back. A broad back filled with possibilities of exploration with his hands. Then mercifully turned back around and held a tiny bag in his huge paw. "HERE YOU GO."
Atlas muttered a thank you and fled before he embarrassed himself. On a normal day he’d check the order while inside, but he needed to keep his composure. He couldn’t do that while such a gorgeous creature was inside. How did he even get inside the building? Since when were the ceilings so high?
Outside he opened the bag, checking the contents of the bag. A bag which looked very tiny in the giant’s paw. Inside were his two donuts.
Also inside was the receipt that had a phone number scrawled on it. How did that lion write such tiny numbers in so short of time?
According to the receipt, the lion's name was Vast. He certainly lived up to his name.
