The flesh began to darken as well, taking on a deep brown color. From a distance Nick’s paws looked black. As the digits shrank, they were pulled closer together as well. A web of flesh was growing between them, holding them together.
Good! Good paws! Need good paws, need swim! With the paw issue settled, Nick returned his attention to his backside. Need push! Need tail, need swim! Nick tensed his jaw and pushed with all his might.
The final pop echoed through the trees.
A long, thick tail whipped back and forth. It was dark brown, coated in sleek fur that cried out for water. Nick looked over his shoulder and chirped with joy.
