Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Roxy grew up rough—raised by a logging-trucker dad who taught her to fight and survive, her mom a ghost who bailed early.
School was a bust; she’s not book-smart but is, in fact, a street-smart genius, scrapping and hustling in Knoxville’s gritty corners.
Her bisexual edge showed young, flirting and fighting in equal measure.
Her life took a turn when Lamond Brock, son of industrialist Alphonse Brock and certified wealthy sleaze, spotted her while she was walking home from trade school. She was young, fierce, and curvy. And Lamond had a love of turning women like her into his trophy wife with massive implants and a bimbo gloss. At least , as long as he was still interested in them.
In 2025, Lamond told Roxy of a neat little piece of jewelry he found while traveling in Sumeria, and he made it into a necklace, just for her. Roxy was shocked that Lamond could be so sweet, and didn't think twice when she wore it, and later that night, took it off and set it on her nightstand.
When she awoke, she was in an entirely different world.
Lamond never "found" that artifact, his family had owned it for years. And Lamond knew that people who slept near it disappeared. This is how he was able to get rid of women he had grown bored of so he could move on to someone new. Where did they go? He didn't care. And he would continue like this up until his death in 2034 from a cocaine overdose.
As for Roxy, he had banished her via a piece of the fabled Jupitris Mirror to Nebula Island, a fog-choked island that once dwelled near Hawaii, but now exists in a timeless void tied to Eldritch power.
There, Roxy would try her best to scrape by and survive, only to get into an almost deadly altercation with an island local, what Roxy calls a "gillblin".
She stumbled away, hurt and bleeding, worried that she may have ruptured her implants that her ex cursed her with. Suddenly the fog parts as if to show her the way and she finds a shimmering glowing spring.
Desperate, she drinks from it, and her wounds are healed, her body strengthened, and everything fake in her body was replaced with flesh as tough as steel.
Roxy begins to wonder if there are more locations like this, and sets out on a journey to find them, should they exist. Along the way she finds more women who were like her, dolled up and discarded.
Among them is Nicki Knight, who was also one of Lamond's romantic conquests.
Nicki comes from the influential Knight family from Atlanta, GA. She's got loads of family, who all established several businesses in the area. Nicki was the odd one in the bunch, going to college and getting a degree in Cosmic Science. Not to learn a trade or start a business , just to learn.
Her parents weren't happy about one of their own bleeding funds just to learn something impractical, a constant source of friction on an already incredibly strained family dynamic.
In a racial dynamic that traditionally prioritizes loyalty to family, Nyx stood out because, being born on the autism spectrum, she was always treated like the odd duck of the family.
When Lamond found her, she was a student with a chip on her shoulder. Lamond approached her parents, offered money in exchange for Nyx, and they agreed believing that Nyx had no work skills and wouldn't be able to survive on her own otherwise.
Nyx was Bimbo-ed up and thrown away within two years.
She's been here longer than Roxy, keeping the other girls safe with her magic, magic she got from a sacred cave.
One of the girls, Faye Feilong, comes from the year 2035, and reveals two things.
The first is that she is the last of Lamond's wives before his fatal cocaine overdose in 2034. She didn't inherit anything except the pendant he gave her, which is how she ended up here.
She also reveals to Roxy that there's these pieces of black glass at these holy places, just like the necklace Lamond gave them, and wonders if getting them all could take them home.
And the more they find, the stronger they become.
Further into the island, the two find Connie Cavallera, a former soldier from 2030, and another one of Lamond's bimbo trophy wives. Except this one would be the one that helped Nyx's family put Lamond away for good.
Connie, while still in a relationship with Lamond, was approached by Nicky's family and was asked how to get in touch with Nicky, and how Nicky's letters suddenly stopped coming home.
Connie reveals to Nicky and Roxy that she, with her combat experience, and Nicky's brother, Ben, and mother, Sherry, along with Roxy's father, Clint, cornered Lamond and forced him to reveal everything.
Lamond's fortune was already rapidly dwindling, and showed Connie, Ben, Sherry, and Clint how the necklace worked. And so convinced them to take a sleep aid and go in to save Roxy and Nyx.
Lamond gets them out of his hair, and they get to try and save Roxy and Nyx, as well as the dozen or so other bimbos he had sent into the mirror.
Connie reveals to Roxy and Nyx that she, Ben, Sherry, and Clint, had joined with other survivors, and had built a camp within an old Russian mall. Their families were waiting on them, and thanks to the island's timeless nature, had been there for months before Roxy and Nicky had showed up.
Along the way to merge the two camps, they meet up with the survivor camp's most valuable asset, a tiny Japanese girl named Yumi who acts as the camp's tracker. Yumi is from ancient Japan, and served Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and is just one of MANY people at the camp from several different time periods.
Together, these survivors would work to find a way back to Earth.
