It's been awhile since I've made some orchestral music. I was inspired today by a composer named Winifred Phillips. I saw an interview with her online, she has some beautiful music in several video games out there. I wish I could work on music for games :P.

Again, not fan of the synths in the piece. But gawde, such a great rendering, breathtaking piece. I have to admit, even the synths are great. Even if my pride forces me to say I don't like.
It's not the sound of the synth itself that bothers me. Indeed, it's the fact of mixing natural sounds with artificial, I find it... too bad. It's like putting water in old wine (Though I'm not enjoying wine... You got my point xD)
Well stop chatting. Great piece. Reallly.

I don't have access to real orchestral sound samples, so I really don't have a choice. When I want to make an original melody, I have to use my MIDI piano. It's impossible to get strings or anything to sound natural, sadly. I know exactly where you're coming from, believe me. I'm just trying to squeeze out the best musical quality I can with the limited tools I have.
No, I mean, I'm perfectly fine with synthetized strings, since it's playable by a real orchestra. WHat I dislike is the artificial sounds, which need synthetizers, even for a live performance. I dislike every instrument that needs electricity. Call me a close-minded, but hell, wood and brass vibrating has a soul. Loudspeaker doesn't.
