It's me singing snippets of English ballads. I was in a good mood and recorded these on my potato phone to show to my friend
Spring_Enterprises. My friend said it sounds nice and I should share it online, so I did. I apologise if the singing and audio quality aren't exceptional. I was never a great singer and I'm also pretty shy, but I'm good at memorising songs and tunes.
Captain Ward and the Rainbow (Child 287):
Come all ye jolly mariners,
That love to take a dram,
I’ll tell you of a robber
That o'er the seas did come.
He wrote a letter to his King
On the eleventh of July,
To see if he would accept of him
For his jovial company.
They sailed up, and they sailed down,
So stately, blythe and free,
Till they spied the King's high Reindeer
Like a leviathan on the sea.
"Go home, go home, ye tinkers,
And tell your king of me,
Though he reigns King upon good dry land,
I will reign king on the sea."
High Barbary (Child 285):
There were two lofty ships from old England came,
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we.
One was the Prince o' Luther and the other the Prince o' Wales,
Come sailing down along the coast of High Barbary.
"Look ahead, look astern, look a-weather and a-lee,
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we.
There were a lofty pirate ship come sailing o'er the lea,
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary."
King John and the Bishop of Canterbury (Child 45):
A story, a story, a story of one
About a young prince and his name was King John;
He was a prince, a prince of great might;
He held up great wrong and he downed great right.
To me down, down, derry-I-down.
