Diets: Carnivores (they hunting preying including cephalopods, small fish, big fish, small sharks, marine reptiles, small land mammals and small prehistoric cetaceans).
Size: 66-100 feet long
Basilosaurus ("Basilisk reptile") is a genus of prehistoric cetaceans that existed during the Middle Eocene to late Holocene, 46 million to 1 years ago. The first fossil of B. cetoides was discovered in the United States and was initially believed to be some sort of reptile, hence the suffix -saurus, but it was later found to be a marine mammal. Richard Owen wished to rename the creature Zeuglodon ("Yoked Tooth"), but, per taxonomic rules, the creature's first name remained permanent. Fossils of Basilosaurus isis have been found in Egypt and Jordan.
The species Basilosaurus cetoides is the state of Mississippi and Alabama and Egypt but then worldwide.
